Our Mission

The Massachusetts Coalition for Adult Education (MCAE) champions the right of all adults to acquire 21st century literacy, English language and numeracy skills leading to economic prosperity, strong families and vibrant communities. MCAE provides leadership, professional development, communication and advocacy to advance quality adult basic education.

Our Work

Since our founding in 1992, MCAE has led the field in:

Advocacy for sufficient resources and sound public policy in adult basic education (ABE) that will lead to high quality programs, instruction, and working conditions.

Professional development through the annual NETWORK conference, the largest adult education conference in New England.

MCAE’s goals are to secure additional state funding for ABE programs and to promote public policies that will lead to high-quality educational services, improved working conditions for program staff, and enhanced quality of life for adult learners and their families.
